Introduction to PhoneGap was through my mobility team. It was an accident. I was just sitting with my team member Dipendra Khatri on his Apple Mac Pro. He was playing with a development framework called as PhoneGap. When I was going through some of its document it talked about the languages that I am pretty much familiar with Javascript, HTML5 and CSS3.
For all the Web Developers like me it will be a very know languages to you. I was not at all hesitant to work on it after hours. We worked for 3 weeks to come up with a Proof Of Concept which had some integration of IOS Ipad app and Apache Cordova.
For me Jquery mobile played a major role and we tested storing data both in Application Server database and local device database. It was an exciting project to work on, in the world of mobility. The key advantage of this development framework is
PhoneGap currently supports development for the operating systems Apple iOS, Google Android, LG webOS, Microsoft Windows Phone (7 and 8), Nokia Symbian OS,[27] RIM BlackBerry, Tizen (SDK 2.x), and Ubuntu Touch. Support for recent versions, such as BlackBerry 6.0+ and 10 , Windows Phone 7 and 8 and Windows 8 , is implemented now. [28]Bada (the operating system used by the SamsungWave S8500) and Tizen , the operating system of upcoming Samsung phones in Q2 2014 support is available
Thus it sounds to be very interesting area for cross platform development.
